Yesterday, our team at MOBOT had the privilege of visiting Jurong Community Hospital (JCH) to share our latest range of innovative personal mobility aids (PMAs). We are deeply grateful to the dedicated occupational therapists who took the time to test our devices at the JurongHealth Mobility Park, a unique training ground designed with life-size mock-ups of public transport vehicles and real-world environments.
It was an eye-opening and meaningful session. Their expertise, patience, and commitment to improving patients’ lives gave us invaluable insights, and we truly appreciate this opportunity to learn directly from professionals who work so closely with patients every day.
Real-World Testing at the Mobility Park
The Mobility Park is an impressive facility, complete with static mock-ups of a low-floor bus, an MRT train carriage, pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, ramps, and walkways with varying surfaces. This realistic setup gave the occupational therapists the perfect opportunity to put our PMAs to the test, simulating exactly how patients would use them in daily life.
Each of our seven devices, including electric wheelchairs from the MWHEEL and ROBOWHEEL Series, as well as mobility scooters from the PRIME Series, was carefully evaluated. The therapists tested them in different scenarios:
- Crossing the traffic light with tactile grounds
- Going up and down slopes to board and exit a bus
- Making a three-point turn in the bus
- Turning in tight spaces to simulate MRT entry and exit
- Navigating ramps, uneven surfaces, and pedestrian crossings
Valuable Feedback from the Experts
The occupational therapists provided us with valuable feedback from their experience with patients seeking a personal mobility aid. This included examining crucial factors such as:
- Sensation and responsiveness when braking
- Tyre size and stability across different surfaces
- Ease of control and manoeuvrability
- Portability and overall weight of the device
- Comfort and posture support during use
Their detailed feedback gave us valuable insights into what truly matters to patients who rely on mobility aids every day.
MOBOT PMAs: Built for Safety, Comfort, and Compliance
We were proud to see all our devices pass through these real-world challenges with ease. Every MOBOT PMA is LTA-compliant, meaning they fit public transport size limits, adhere to speed regulations, and come with safe automatic braking systems, even on slopes.
Our mobility scooters stood out for their user-friendly features and comfort-driven designs, while our lightweight, foldable electric wheelchairs impressed with their ease of use, multifunctionality, and portability.
Moving Forward Together
We sincerely thank the occupational therapists at JCH for their warm collaboration, thoughtful testing, and constructive feedback. This experience has not only helped us refine our understanding of patients’ needs, but it has also reinforced our mission at MOBOT: to design and provide mobility aids that empower people to move with confidence and independence. We are honoured to have had this opportunity and look forward to more collaborations that drive meaningful impact for the community.
